Common questions
Is this an official court checklist?
No. This is a plain-language starting point to help you gather documents for your defense. Always consult your attorney, as every case is unique and may require different evidence.
Do I need every document on the list?
Not necessarily. Your attorney will determine exactly what is needed for your specific situation. This list just helps you know what to start looking for.
What if I don't have the police report?
Your attorney will obtain the police report and other 'discovery' from the prosecutor. You do not need to request it yourself if you have hired a lawyer.
Can I save or print my checklist?
Yes. Use the Print button to print your checklist or save it as a PDF, or use the Copy button to copy the list as text you can paste anywhere.
